Renee Zellweger? Really?

My good friend and one of our very best Caledonian bloggers, Baron Bardhaven, recently posted the following article: Caledon: The Motion Picture. From his production desk comes the following suggestions for casting:

John Cusack is Guvnah Desmond Shang
Catherine Zeta-Jones is Duchess Gabrielle Riel
Renee Zellwenger is Duchess Eva Bellambi
Stephen Dorff is Col Hotspur O’Toole
Claire Danes is Miss Lapin Paris
Billy Zane is Baron Zealot Benmergui
Nicole Kidman is Baroness Kirawill Collingwood
Meg Ryan (in Top Gun) is Miss kiralette Kelley
Keanu Reeves is Mr Gnarlihotep Abel
Edward Fox (in Day of the Jackal) is Mr. Edward Pearse
Meryl Streep (in The French Lieutenant’s Woman) is Miss Christine McAllister
Hugh Laurie is Dr. Oolon Sputnik
Sandra Bullock is Miss Terry Lightfoot
John Rhys Davies is Prof Alfonso Avalanche
Bette Midler is Miss Fuschia Begonia
Christian Bale is Dr. Darien Mason
Cary Elwes is Mr. ZenMondo Wormzer
Eliza Dushku is Miss Darkling Elytis
Pauley Perrette (NCIS) is Miss Katat0nik Pidgeon
Teri Hatcher is Miss Lavandar Beaumont
Chris Sarandon is Mr. Erasmus Margulies

Now I ask you...do you believe that Renee Zellweger could even remotely play the role of Duchess of Loch Avie?

My suggestion for casting is quite the physical opposite of Ms Zellweger. Please do let me know what you think!

May I suggest Eva Green? (and not just for the name)

My other comments are on the good Baron's page.

See you on the casting couch.

Not a bad comparison, Eva and Eva. Though, I prefer Mme Green in her role as Sybilla, Queen of Jerusalem. Better costuming, too, but that's besides the point. :)

I did look at some of his casting choices with askance. Some of his choices for the ladies is rather odd and Keabu Reeves for anyone is insulting :-)

And yes Connery was the inspiration for me though in his 40s I think.

I may posit a similar list.

One of those rare kinescopes not unduly harmed by the presence of one O. Bloom. I was very entertained by it. And I agree, Ms. Green would make a wonderful substitute for Her Grace. What did you think of my suggestion for your part, Miss Kate?

I didn't understand Renee Zellweger for you either Eva, until I pulled out my Chicago soundtrack to listen to Catherine Zeta-Jones (the actress cast as me) belt out "All That Jazz".

Then the "femme fatale" team of Zeta-Jones and Zellweger jumped out at me, and I understood Lord Bardhaven's suggestion of Ms. Zellweger for you. :-)

The picture of Ms. Z-J. and Ms. Z on the cover of the album, with Richard Gere standing between them was inspiring...I think we need to do a photo shoot.

Where *would* we find a charming, Irish rogue to serve as our Billy Flynn? ;-)

*pouts* I wanna be in the movie. Can I have Kate Beckinsale play me?

Oh yes! A photo shoot sounds fantastic! Perhaps when I have my 1920s-1940s party. And I do believe we could locate an Irish rogue for the part.

This could be great fun!
