********Poem and Photo after this break********

Her Breasts
by Susan Helwig

Her breasts make me a sculptor
to strip her clothes off this early morning, once more
buttons, zippers,
watch her drink the day's first coffee, naked,
her hand, the cup, her lips
Her breasts sigh,
they feed the greedy babies that are my eyes
all hunger
Her breasts are not marble or art
they breathe slowly
ripple the water
Her breasts are never crushed in love
they cradle in my hands as we make nesting spoons
they sing a perfect O
that I try to speak again and again:
fill me, fill me
once and for all

Holiday Events Enjoyed

A little "postcard" featuring some of the Holiday events I attended in Caledon and Winterfell this weekend.

Braaaaaiiiiiinnnnzzzz

The Zombie Queen of Skye - or The Lady B in clever disguise.

...and her minions

There are zombies in my Minuet!

Brave Regency Lady Huntress

Excerpt from Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
by: Jane Austin and Seth Grahame-Smith

As Mr. Darcy walked off, Elizabeth felt her blood turn cold. She had never in her life been so insulted. The warrior code demanded she avenge her honour. Elizabeth reached down to her ankle, taking care not to draw attention. There, her hand met the dagger concealed beneath her dress. She meant to follow this proud Mr. Darcy outside and open his throat.

But no sooner had she grabbed the handle of her weapon than a chorus of screams filled the assembly hall, immediately joined by the shattering of window panes. Unmentionables poured in, their movements clumsy yet swift; their burial clothing in a range of untidiness. Some wore gowns so tattered as to render them scandalous; other wore suits so filthy that one would assume they were assembled from little more than dirt and dried blood. Their flesh was in varying degrees of putrefaction; the freshly stricken were slightly green and pliant, whereas the longer dead were grey and brittle – their eyes and tongues long since turned to dust, and their lips pulled back into everlasting skeletal smiles.

A few of the guests, who had the misfortune of being too near the windows, were seized and feasted on at once. When Elizabeth stood, she saw Mrs. Long struggle to free herself as two female dreadfuls bit into her head, cracking her skull like a walnut, and sending a shower of dark blood spouting as high as the chandeliers.

Zombie Kira arrives....but a hunter lurks in the background.

What a fantastically fun night we had last night. I would say that there were more zombies than hunters or victims, but that did not stop our fun one bit. No ninjas at all, though, which is a wee bit of a shame. I was so pleased to have my friends from Steelhead join me in this venture.

Fuzzball Ortega rocked the playlist for 3 hours instead of just two because the party was still going strong at the stated 9pm ending.

It was also such a joy to have friends - from the very new (just met last night) to the very old (more than three years now) - from Caledon and Winterfell attend. We had folks from a smattering of other sims head on over and join the blood bath - er - fun as well. A new neighbor even braved the lag and dropped by to say 'hello'.

While we did not crash the sim, we did have a griefer show up. A sure sign of a well-attended event. He was diffused quite well by me in IM and left of his own accord. Iason, Tensai, and Hotspur were all poised to do some damage to the person if he had not complied(which is far more fun than merely ejecting they tell me) since I had enabled damage in the sim for the zombie shoot on the front lawn. A few hardy souls gave that a try - alas I have no pictures. Guess we'll just have to do it again.

My thanks to:
  • Zombie Kira who lent us the zombie shooter game
  • the Huntress Lumina who provided the dance machines
  • And to Zombie Icarus Ghost who shared some snapshots with me. I share those and several more of my own with you.

Gryffin Hax (hunter or hunted?)

Poor Angelica can't seem to detach this one.

Lovely Miss Lowey

A young zombie in love??

Lumina the Huntress

There's a young, tasty morsel.

Someone suggested that brains be checked at the door. "Yessssss, we'll keep them very safe for you. Yessss, of course they will be returned at the end of the night."

Braaaaaiiiinnnzzzz

Frequency Picnic - the lovely (decided against zombie avatar stating that she has so many of them, it would be nice to be the lady for a change).

Fabulous Steelhead couples - all undeadlike

Do come back and see us.....and bring fresh brains your friends.

Tis the Season

...for Real Life to take over my event schedule.

Part of me is always a little saddened when I miss out on things in SL, particularly things such as The Grand Tour, which by all accounts has been a phenomenal success. Congratulations Miss Gray! Obviously I miss my friends and neighbors in the Metaverse most of all when I am away. The other part of me, however, always rejoices when wonderful, special events take place with friends and family in the realm of the flesh.

The next month is going to be terribly busy out here in the real, so I hope that you will indulge me as I write about some of those events in these pages as well. I expect that you will find me in and out of world most weeknights for a little while (save for when I have family visiting - oh like I do right now); however, most weekends are at least partially out.

I am going to jot an outline of my combine RL and SL commitments here - primarily for my own benefit as I, quite frankly, am having a little trouble making sure I don't miss things. Here goes:

Holiday Events through 12-24-08 (as known on this date)
Real Life events in this color
Second Life events in this color

  • Family visiting for Thanksgiving: 11-20-08 through 12-1-08.
  • Christmas Party hosted by us with Chef Pippa Calland: 12-6-08
  • Cooking Class: 12-12-08
  • Hubby's Work Holiday Party: 12-13-08
  • Choral Cantata: 12-14-08
  • Military Winter Holiday Celebration (Dining Out) hosted by Wrath Fleet at Artificial Isle: 12-14-08
  • Story-Telling at the Anvil: 12-15-08
  • 40th Birthday Party for a friend: 12-19-08
  • Yule Celebration at Book End: 12-20-08
  • Christmas Eve Services (several) 12-24-08

By the way, my typist was with her daughters and mother-in-law on a day trip to New York City yesterday. We spent some wonderful time in the city walking through Central Park and watching the ice skaters, horses and squirrels. Then after some hot chocolate, we made our way to FAO Schwartz where we spent a couple of hours looking and playing (including watching the giant piano being danced. Lunch was a quick one at TGI Friday's near our theatre. I took the group to The Little Mermaid, which was marvelously done. Costuming, sets, and music were fantastic! I would highly recommend it - particularly for families - but I think most would enjoy it. Ursula was played particularly well - as were Flotsam and Jetsam.
After the show, we made our way to Macy's (the kids' first taxi ride) where we shopped a little and grabbed a bite to eat at their Cellar Bar and Grill before hopping back to the bus for the trip home. All in all a really nice time.

Well that's it for now. Perhaps I'll make it into world in a little while. Perhaps not. But it is generally easier to blog or something similar when company is around. It is difficult to act and interact well when both worlds need high levels of attention, neh?

Much Love,
Eva

Upcoming Events in Caer Blanco

Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 8am SLT on the Castle Rooftop in Caer Blanco

Join Zealot Benmergui for a reading of

The Man Who Collected Poe by Robert Bloch and They’re Made Out of Meat by Terry Bisson

This will be streamed over the audio channel in the sim with Lord BardHaven present for some conversation before and after the event.

Lord Zealot Benmergui, Baron of BardHaven, Ruffian King of Caledon, Last Defender of the Dark Hope, Keeper of the Shadow that Sings and Magus d’Calamatia Majora was born at the age of 6 in a speeding carriage somewhere on the Italian/Swiss border.

His parents, a morbidly sentimental English debutante with a taste for the intellectual and the excommunicated and an elderly Italian nobleman with a weakness for somber ladies and erotic pastry, died in a tragic Mongoose stampede when he was still at school at Eton, leaving him the only heir to the vast holdings of BardHaven.

Embarking on a successful career as an international businessman, adventurer, evangelist and agent provocateur, the young Baron soon was a familiar face and community leader in some of the more unusual and disgraceful circles in Europe, Asia and Latin America before returning to the family seat in Mayfair at the legendary House of Three Graces.

Since returning to Caledon, he has become well known as a writer, fashion reviewer, gothic savant, betrayer of innocent strumpets and torch singer performing under the name Miss Monique Borgia, the Iron Chanteuse.

Caer Blanco is a special sim, created specially for Halloween by some of Second Life’s top designers. There is a fully furnished haunted castle, a crooked cottage, a ghostly ship, and a ruined monastery to explore. There are also silent auction items avaialable and many special events planned. All this will raise funds for a small medical clinic in Lesotho, Southern Africa, through the charity Partners for Others.

Welcome to the Red Rose of Caledon

Dear Friends,
I am most pleased to have joined the many Caledonians who have moved further into the æther. Do be patient with me as I develop this Blog. Life in Loch Avie - and in all of Caledon - does keep one rather busy. I shall endeavor to keep a Caledon Civic Booster Events Calendar updated for you here, as well as transcripts of the newsletters that are distributed throughout the land. One shall also be able to view updates on building projects in Loch Avie. As with many other Blogs, this one will include anecdotes of my journey through Second Life including information about the exploits of the explorers from The Royal Society for the Advancement of Natural Sciences.

This afternoon I shall meet with the Caledon Relay for Life team as fundraising event planning continues. Kudos to Ms. Lapin Paris for chairing these events for our nation. I will certainly be sharing more information as it is known. Please do be aware that the Kickoff Ball - of course the first event for the Caledon Relay for Life efforts is a ball as we do love to dance in Caledon - will be held in Coughton Court in Caledon Carntaigh on Sunday, March 25th, from 2:00pm - 5:00pm SLT. Our sincere gratitude goes out to Duchess Riel for hosting and providing the music for this event.

Thank you for finding my humble first efforts here in this region of the æther. I will look forward to your visits and comments.

Eva
