Calling All Designers! BobbieThon is Coming!

This year is the third annual BoobieThon event in Second Life. A good history of BoobieThon can be found here

All the monies raised at BoobieThon.com go to Susan G. Komen Foundation (unless specified by donors to go to the BloggersSupportingBloggers charity). All the money we raise in SL goes directly to Komen.

To support the cause in Second Life we have many different events taking place in during the week of fund-raising (October 1-7, 2010).

* Art Auction - Oct 1st through Oct 6th
* Gypsy Caravan (with various gypsy themed events) - Oct 1st through Oct 7th
* Designer Vendors - Oct 1st through Oct 7th at the BoobieBall Pavilion
* BoobieBalls - Oct 2nd 10:30am UK Event ~ and ~ Oct 2nd 7:30pm US Event
* Educational Salons
- History of undergarments (specifically corsets and bras) - Oct 3rd 1pm
- Self Breast Exams and other prevention activities - Oct 3rd 3pm
* Rummage Sale - Oct 5th and 6th all day
* Burlesque for Breasts and Closing Ceremony - Oct 7th 7pm

For the designer vendors we are asking  interested designers to create one or more unique items - themed, if possible. And do feel free to use something similar to our dark raspberry color if you like (as seen in the event poster attached). Interested designers will be given a vendor to set up at the BoobieBall Pavilion, this is to ensure the security of the items permissions. The vendors are already set up to sell items with payment going to each designer and then rerouted to our treasurer (SavingSecondBase Searose). In this way, each designer can track sales and such.

Hopefully this is helpful information and please, PLEASE let us know if you have other questions - or any concerns. We will be so honored to have you be part of the event if you choose to do so.

Most Sincerely,
Eva Bellambi, Lady of Skye
and
Serra Anansi, Seneschelf of Winterfell

With Gratitude!

Real life being what it is, I have not had time to wade through the wonderful pictures of the final Boobie-Thon 2009 event in SL: The Limerick Contest.

I have shared in other venues (in my exhausted but elated state) that Saving Second Base (our SL Boobie-Thon team) donated 2010.00 USD to Susan G. Komen last night after a week of wonderful events and gorgeous product sales.

Let me just say that again - $2,010.00!!!!

Thank you! Thank you!

I promise a more full report within the next 2 or 3 days. But for now, let me just say a HUGE Thank You! to Velesjæger Munster (our contest winner), Hotspur O'Toole, and PJ Trenton for their fine limericks during the "Joust".

A special thanks to Iason Hassanov (who was suddenly and unexpectedly called into RL work and could not join us for the event, but worked with me to create the space), Icarus Ghost (our phenomenal DJ) and Hypatia Callisto (for sharing not only some great burlesque dances, but also her Blue Mermaid event time with us).

My fellow judges were AutoPilotPatty Poppy and Magdalena Kamenev. Thank you, ladies!

And of course thanks to Serra Anansi, my Bosom Buddy in all these efforts.

An Update on the Current Breast Cancer Research Charity Event

Exciting news!

The site has been up and running now for nearly 3 full days, and so far the funds raised are $3060.00. Not bad for a bit less than half way through the Thon. Last year, the site raised over $9000.00, which means that about 185 people donated the $50.00 to get to the Pay per Boobie pages. These funds go to the Susan G. Koman Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

The main publicity for this charity is via blogs and word of mouth. This year, the founder has been on a few radio stations promoting the site as well. My purpose is not to promote myself in ANY way, but to make the charity known to you....and to have a little fun along the way. We are all curious about one another and the humans behind the avatars. If I can get even 10 residents of Caledon (or any of my other blog readers) to donate, I will be thrilled.

With that thought in mind, I wanted to let you know that 4 residents of Caledon tell me that they have been to the site. One gentleman let me know privately that he had donated, and upon review of the photos, did indeed locate my typist's collection of photos. He was correct! The others who have gone to the site have told me they have done so, but did not yet mention whether they donated the $50 to see the uncovered photos. They also have not told me if they even located my human on the main gallery page.

Please, feel free to contact me via IM in world, comment here, or my email to let me know.

And please donate!
