Exploring Nemo

Last night I had the time and inclination to do a bit of exploring. Thanks to Hamlet Au and New World Notes, I found just the perfect place.

I shall share the short slide show with you and tell you how remarkable the build is, but you should really see it for yourself. The textures are incredibly well done, and the movement of the gears and other mechanisms is seamless.

Once you've had a look at this, you should really head over to New World Notes for a detailed read about the content and the creator and a great YouTube machinima of the sim.

Enjoy!

Ooooo Steampunk Style - Who could resist the latest meme?

Your result for The Steampunk Style Test...

The Aristocrat

71% Elegant, 52% Technological, 40% Historical, 24% Adventurous and 20% Playful!

You are the Aristocrat, the embodiment of steampunk elegance and poise. For you, dressing steampunk is first and foremost about simply looking good, with accessories and details to follow. However, this does not mean that you ignore the demands of creating a “steampunk look.” Your outfits weave together a balance between technology and style, and between period accuracy and beautiful anachronism. While your fashion inspiration may come from anywhere across the Victorian social spectrum, you always find a way to make your outfit beautiful. You will probably be found in the clothes of the steam age elite simply because of the greater elegance available to them. Chances are you dress this way because you like it, and you would still dress in this manner even if steampunk was not a popular interest.

Steampunk Revelry and Outfitting the Keep

Steampunk has definitely been the theme of the last few days for me.

Steampunk-ish Poetry by Phinias Sheridan

Brass and Glass

Ancient dusty inner workings
begging to be fixed anew
Ancient secrets of magic lurking
In the chamber of brass and glass

Found upon an oaken shelf
next to the camera (only $35)
There it sat waiting for me
In it's chamber of brass and glass

Taking it home and fixing it up
I unlocked the ancient secret
As it tick-tocked away on the cup
The wondrous chamber of brass and glass

The Trans-Aetheric Man

I've never seen one like him
Many come through in their brass machines
They were always rude and grim
He was a noble fellow
In his black coat and hat
And goggles which made him look mellow
He never once yelled at Ms. Pocket
Or threw a chair at me
And when they broke her locket
(the one with the portraits of her mother and father)
He merely smiled after they left
and said "I'll fix it, It'll be no bother

My Friday evening was very fun filled as I joined my friends from Steelhead at their dance in the Relay For Life sim. TotalLunar Eclipse, Tensai Hilra, and a number of very talented Steelheadians from the team created a miniature Steelhead and the gorgeous, floating Castle Wulfenbach.

The Bloody Air Brigade by Phinias Sheridan

Floating fantastically flawed on the breeze
The great airship majestically sailed
With a Marvelously malicious murdering intent
Any other ships were not to be hailed
Rumbling roaring red-hot engines spin
Turning magnificent props through the air
We all watched it rumble to and fro
Spyglass to my eye and wind in my hair
like a savage, screaming, sower of lead
she poured down a dark deadly din
flashes of fire in the dead of night
cutting down countless crying men
Her Majesty's marvelous machine
Crewed by daring, dreamy, dark men
It was a fanciful far fetched, almost fake dream
To be in The Bloody Air Brigade

There was much spirit and jovial discussion as the usual crowd was joined by a number of guests - a few n00bs as well as a couple of well known citizens.

This morning once I rose from my bed, I decided that I would travel down to see Caledon Glamorgan. I was anxious to see the work of my friend, His Grace, ambiant Kukulcan. Imagine the pleasant surprise of finding him at his shop and that we both actually had time to chat for a little while.

I found Glamorgan a real treat visually, and ambiant was most gracious. After we parted ways, I went on into the shop and happily found a few things that were needed for the security of the Loch. These have been installed.

You may travel to my Koinup site to view the non-classified daugerotypes of the additions to the Keep as well as my time in Castle Wulfenbach and Glamorgan.

Apparently Gnarlihotep Has Really Been Working With His Penguins

Penguin Professors!!! HRONK!!!

Eat your heart out, Alton Brown!

The folks over at Brass Goggles rarely steer you wrong. I came across this post while perusing the æther today.

Over at ConceptArt.org, those terribly skilled artists are deep in the depths of the Character of the Week challenge, or CHOW once again - and this week’s challenge is a Steampunk Penguin Professor (with assistant) in the Arctic. They’re on to the final(s)...... some utterly stunning (and exceptionally charming) entries piling in......

I love the concept of the Penguin as Steampunk Professor: part mad scientist, part cuddly creature, all full of fish and vinegar. Any of these fine gentle-pengis could certainly apply to the Royal Society.

I encourage you to have a look at your earliest convenience.

Hronk! I mean....Slaínte!

Another Normal Night in Loch Avie

Invasion of the SteamBots!

Thank God Colonel O'Toole was on patrol else who knows what fate might have befallen the Loch, or my person! Or the whisky distillery!

I had just returned to the skies of Loch Avie and noticed some green dots down below me. Thinking they may be friends utilizing the practice area, or some stopping by the pub, I determined that I would flutter down and say a word of hello.

What I found was shocking!

Thank goodness the Colonel saw me coming and sent a secure message stating that he had donned his steam-mechanized persona and was in fierce combat with some unknown foreign behemoth. Dear Miss Virrginia Tombola was nearby on the steps of the distillery watching with wide eyes the clash of these titans.

Quickly I thanked Colonel O'Toole and swept Miss Tombola up to the roof of the public house. From that vantage point we could safely watch the battle in the age-old tradition of the gentry: on a lovely chaise or blanket, with drinks at hand.

It was not long before the battle grew more fierce. Trees uprooted. Steam and smoke. Much grinding of gears. Oh and Miss Tomobola announcing on the State Channel, "Steambot battles in Loch Avie near the pub. Sunday. SUNDAY. SUNDAY!"

I grinned and nodded at Miss Tomobola, then placed the cask of whisky out on the roof for I knew what was going to happen. Guests! Cheering. A little steampunk trash talk. Some threats of Duchess Stick use. And continued fierce competition to keep Loch Avie safe.

In the end, Colonel O'Toole won the night. Huzzah! Safe and secure once again. My thanks, sir!

(My thanks to my other good friend, Iason Hassanov, for playing the part of the villain. Well done sir. Such good fun.)
